VERY RARE!  DESSERT PLATES.  These coupe (rimless) plates are 7-1/2 inches in diameter and have the usual Adams Birds of America hand-colored transfers.  We have been collecting and selling Adams since 1999, and did not even know they made smaller plates until we saw these.  Backs are plain (no manufacturer or other markings).  All plates very good to excellent.  Snowy Egret has some crazing, Pileated Woodpecker has some blue stains on the back (completely invisible from the front).  Sold as a set. $200.  Shipping charges for the four plates will be adjusted downwards to reflect smaller size.

Embossed Laurel Border -- 12 birds -- 10-1/2 inch plates -- white or cream

THE FOLLOWING WHITE/CREAM BORDER PLATES ARE SOLD OUT, AND WILL NOT BE RESTOCKED.  WE ARE KEEPING THE PHOTOS AVAILABLE FOR REFERENCE.  Click any bordered photograph for a larger image.

This style comes in two different colors, cream and white.  After several years of collecting and observing the market, we have concluded that eight plates were made in cream (Ruffed Grouse, Cedar Waxwing, Canvas-back Duck, Snowy Egret, Baltimore Oriole, Pileated Woodpecker, Florida Jay, and Long-billed Curlew) and five in white ( Canada Goose, Wild Turkey, Bird of Washington (Eagle), American Flamingo, and Ruffed Grouse). The photos are for reference -- we are totally sold out of these plates and cannot find them for you.

All plates in the photo above except the turkey are cream.  To the best of our knowledge, these eight plates are all that Adams made in cream.

Adams_White_FIVE.jpg (156693 bytes)
As far as we know, Adams made only five of the Birds of America plates in white.  The transfers on all white plates except the flamingo are slightly darker than the transfers used for the floral series.  The flamingo transfer on the white-border plates appears identical to the transfer used on the floral-border flamingo.  While the white plates are less common than the cream plates, only the white flamingo plate is truly rare.
