Beautiful set of 8-inch bone china dessert plates from Tuscan of England. Decorative
gold rim along a scalloped edge. Some minor scratches, but overall

We have four mugs from this series (labeled "Royal
Tuscan," same pattern, style and manufacturer) - Chestnut Warbler,
Goldfinch, Crossbill, and Chickadee. Transfers in very good condition,
except the Goldfinch (with small scratches/losses affecting paint on the head
of the bird)

Guillot China: Audubon Birds of America plus
others
We've gotten in more bird plates by Guillot of France. We have sold
several of these from both their Birds of America series and their European bird
series. All that is left are two white hand-painted plates (with matte finish) from
the Birds of America series. $20 each.

Gorham China: American Wildlife Heritage
This colorful series is very unusual in that it consists of animal and bird images
taken from Audubon's octavo prints. The octavo prints are smaller versions
of the original large images issued by Audubon. The plates are extremely colorful,
have gold rims, and are from a limited edition of 2,500 for each design.
All plates are the same size, about 10-1/2 inches.

Delano Studios: 10-inch Birds of America
plates with decorative rim
These 10-inch bird plates were
put out by Delano Studios of Setauket, NY. All plates are the same cream color (in spite of differences
in photos) and were made with hand-painted
lithographic transfers. All have the same rim.

SWALLOW-TAILED KITE - a handsome hawk with garter snake. The
back of the kite is a dark blue-green. SOLD

GREAT BLUE HERON - along with the flamingo, probably the most
recognizable image in Audubon's work. SOLD

CEDAR WAXWING - the Cedar Bird seems to be the single
most popular Audubon bird to appear on china plates based on The Birds of
America. It shows up over and
over in our favorite china series. SOLD

ORCHARD ORIOLE - a family group with nest. This
plate has lovely autumn colors (yellows and deep oranges). This
plate is now back in stock. $40.

WHITE-CROWNED PIGEON. Pair of billing doves in a Geiger tree --
originally painted in Key West, FL. The birds are purple-gray, the foliage
is dark green while the flowers are burnt orange. SOLD

HERMIT THRUSH - this bird is known for its beautiful
song. Beautiful composition showing two birds surrounded by red
berries. This plate is now back in stock. SOLD

Pickard - Boston Museum of Fine Arts

These 8-inch plates by Pickard
(in cooperation with the Boston Museum of Fine Arts) are among the nicest we've seen with
Audubon birds. There are four plates in the series; the designers
envisioned each plate as belonging to one of the seasons. The fourth
plate (not pictured and currently not available) is the Cedar Waxwing (winter)
which has a blue
rim. Please note that the plates shown in the photos may not be the specific plates
available. |

Rosenthal Classic Rose Collection: Large
vase with Goldfinch

This large vase in from the Rosenthal Classic Rose Collection. It
stands over 13 inches high, about 11 inches across (at the widest point) and has a somewhat unusual oval shape. The
thistle with the two goldfinches are exact reproductions from the original
Audubon image; the butterflies are a fanciful addition. The back design is
the same as the front. SOLD.

This scrimshaw-like box (made of plastic) is decorated with hawks from the
octavo edition of The Birds of America. The piece (and similar
pieces) was made and sold by a company called History Art USA sometime in the
latter half of the twentieth century. The titles below each picture show the labeling
on the box followed by the octavo plate numbers and titles. $100.
